Really impressed with the make over this place has had. It’s almost unrecognisable as the Howwood Inn! Lovely decor, staff were attentive and the food was tasty and reasonably priced. Definitely visiting again.Becca
Great food and great staff
Visited on a Saturday afternoon for a light lunch. Staff were so friendly and attentive when required. The food we had was all very tasty. The Boarding House has such a lovely atmosphere. Shall visit again.Mary
Visited yesterday with wife and 2 boys. Ordered from the lunch menu, a fish and chips and cheeseburger from the menu and the kids got burgers from the kids lunch menu.
Food was really good quality, portions were brilliant and all excellent value. Would certainly recommend.
Intend to return
My wife and I were taken to the Boarding House by a friend and we were very glad to be introduced to this restaurant. The layout is attractive, the menu sufficiently varied and the quality of the food was pleasing. The attentiveness and helpfulness of the staff was outstanding.
The Boarding House: a short history
The Boarding House has been in the Smith family for 12 years, in 2015 a major refurbishment was started, transforming the building into a modern, contemporary restaurant and ale house with expanded function facilities.
The original country hotel dates back to 1770 making this one of the oldest pubs in Renfrewshire, and keeping in the spirit of the original Howwood Inn which boasted two bars serving a wide range of whiskies and ale, our modern Ale House continues the tradition with a vast selection of Whisky, Gins and Ales and our restaurant serves the finest locally sourced food making the Boarding House the true home of honest food.
